Can you book a US plumber, electrician or roofer online?

27 of the 54 US trade websites we scanned (50%) have a way to book or schedule a job from the site. 7 connect that to a field-service or scheduling system; the other 20 have a request or schedule button with no scheduling system we could recognise behind it.

Sample: 54 US plumber, electrician, heating and roofing websites (of 134 listed with a website in Portland, Austin, Denver, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago). Scanned on 25 September 2026.

Field-service software shows up, but rarely

The systems we recognised: ServiceTitan (4), Calendly (1), Housecall Pro (1), Jobber (1).

Tools like these can let a customer pick an arrival window and put the job onto a technician's calendar. A plain request form cannot: somebody still has to get back to the customer.

Where the rest leave the customer

27 sites had no booking or request path at all. 13 of the 54 had neither a published email address nor a form, which leaves only the phone.

How we measured this

We drew independent businesses with a website from OpenStreetMap in six cities per country (the US), skipped chains and social media profiles, and picked up to 60 at random per sector and country.

Our scanner read each homepage and its contact pages the way a visitor's browser receives them, and looked for booking systems, booking buttons, chat, forms and published email addresses. It checked that every published email domain can receive mail.

6 sites were left out of the figures because they did not load or no longer belonged to the business. We contacted nobody and name no business.
