Do Dutch gyms and yoga studios answer on chat or WhatsApp?
11 of the 56 Dutch fitness studio websites we scanned (20%) offer a chat widget or a WhatsApp link. That is a higher share than in the UK, where 6 of 55 do.

Chat is a cheap channel to add
We counted both embedded chat widgets and click-to-chat WhatsApp links as a chat channel. A WhatsApp link costs nothing to add and needs no software.
Chat is rarer in the US sample: 2 of 56 sites have either. If you run a studio in the Netherlands, the Dutch figure is the one your visitors are used to.
Email and forms still carry most contact
47 of the 56 Dutch sites publish an email address and 40 have a form. 6 have neither, so a visitor can only call or visit.

We drew independent businesses with a website from OpenStreetMap in six cities per country (the Netherlands, the UK, the US), skipped chains and social media profiles, and picked up to 60 at random per sector and country.
Our scanner read each homepage and its contact pages the way a visitor's browser receives them, and looked for booking systems, booking buttons, chat, forms and published email addresses. It checked that every published email domain can receive mail.
13 sites were left out of the figures because they did not load or no longer belonged to the business. We contacted nobody and name no business.
